I do a major blog post here whenever it gets updated, so I imagine the best thing to do would be to "follow" me and check your account notification settings. You might be able to set an email alert or something there.
Saves should be compatible across versions. They should appear in the save menu automatically. But if it doesn't, you can manually copy the files from the "Saves" folder of your old version to the new one.

Are the cheat codes only available on Patreon and not with the purchase here?
Itch version has the cheats unlocked, so you don't need to enter the code.
